Out-of-Delivery Area (ODA)
In simple terms, if a customer's delivery address is beyond the standard serviceable area of a transport branch, it may be classified as an Out of Delivery Area (ODA).
How are ODA Charges Calculated?
There is no standard Out-of-Delivery Area (ODA) charge applicable to all shipments. ODA charges are calculated based on the specific delivery requirements and operational conditions for each shipment. Factors that influence these charges include the distance from the nearest delivery branch, the delivery location, shipment weight and dimensions, the type of goods being transported, the vehicle required for delivery, road accessibility, and local transportation costs. The final ODA charge is determined during the booking process after the destination address has been verified.
How Does ODA Work?
The Out-of-Delivery Area (ODA) process begins when a shipment is booked with the logistics company. During the booking process, the destination address is verified to determine whether it falls within the standard Door Delivery service network. If the destination is identified as being outside the regular delivery coverage, it is classified as an Out-of-Delivery Area (ODA). In such cases, the customer is informed of the applicable ODA charges before delivery arrangements are finalized. Once the customer confirms acceptance of the charges, the shipment is delivered to the specified destination. Alternatively, customers may choose to collect their shipment from the nearest transport branch, which may help avoid Door Delivery charges.
